Not quite the same, as the extension will still allow these buttons to work some of the time. You can accomplish much of the same thing in Chrome using extensions like Disconnect or Ghostery that block the Share button entirely as well as trackers from other networks. So basically, it's limiting the amount of information Facebook can collect from non-Facebook sites.
